Adventures in Teaching: Teaching to Improve

I've always felt confident about my writing. These past few years I have especially improved in my writing since I wrote dozens of evaluation reports, journal articles, and other papers for school.

However, now that I am teaching a course on writing that focuses a lot on grammar and other writing techniques, I am finding myself improving even more on my writing skills.

I am much more cognizant of each sentence I am writing. I am much more critical of my writing than I ever was before.

There is the old adage that "Those who can't, teach," with the idea that only people with no skills teach and people with skills don't teach. However, I think this is a much better reflection of reality:

"Those who can and want to improve, teach."
